Production Team Member I

1st Shift: M-F 6am-230pm

2nd Shift: M-F 2pm-1030pm

3rd Shift: M-F 10pm-630am

Position Summary: Assembly of parts after production. Application of promoter and tape to production pieces. Packing and labeling assembled parts for shipment. Responsible for packing and labeling product, loading/unloading multiple production machines and operating assembly equipment to assemble products and/or packaging according to customer and company provided specifications.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Personal Traits:

· High School Diploma

· Previous manufacturing or mechanical experience.

· Able to maintain specified machine rate.

· Demonstrated mechanical ability in the use of tools.

· Demonstrated math skills.

· Automated equipment operation.

· SPC-SQC basic training.

· General computer experience.

· Demonstrated ability to follow conveyance rates with specified cycle times.

Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:

· Perform all work functions in adherence to safety, quality and production policies.

· Load and unload automatic and semi-automatic equipment with material and product.

· Routinely lift up to 55 pounds worth of weight.

· Perform hand or mechanical assembly, packaging and decorating.

· Follow schedules and work instructions to meet production as scheduled.

· Perform quality checks and verifications as required by work instructions.

· Verify product quality, contain and hold product if appropriate.

· Inspect product per CDB (Central Data Book).

· Assist in 1st piece sign offs and quality checks.

· Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

· Adhere to SPN/Quality alerts as required.

· Must be willing to pack any products; be willing to float whenever and wherever needed.

· Identify product through all operations.

· Transfer WIP/FG to designated areas.

· Ability to identify proper material recycle codes.

· Ability to build and trouble shoot master labels.

· Ability to read the dispatch list to determine BOM requirements.

· Ability to comfortably use the paging system.

· Ability to use a pallet jack.

· Ability to work in a team atmosphere and assist those around you on short notice.

· Perform hourly process and Quality checks as required.

· Follow FIFO (First in first out).

· Successfully utilize gauges and understand terminology.

· Set-up and end jobs (load and unload jobs in Plex).

· Have an understanding of KANBAN.

· Have an understanding of partial boxes and know when to use them.

· Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Production Team Member 2 Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:

· Help on the floor wherever needed – team player – willing to do whatever and whenever is asked.

· Locate and prepare packaging.

· Empty runner barrels.

· Perform label audits on packaging.

· Assist in 1st piece sign offs and quality checks.

· Cover operator breaks in a timely fashion.

Work Environment: Light industrial factory environment, low – moderate noise, occasional light dust, and occasional plastic fumes. Assembly machines, insert molding presses, hand tools, scales, forklift, full use and range of movements of wrists, hands, arms and eyes.

Quality Technician - 3rd Shift

3rd Shift: M-F 10pm-630am

Position Summary:  Model Pliant’s Core Values (Teamwork, Trustworthy, Respectful, Positive Attitude, and Meta-Performance) while supporting internal and external customer expectations. Contribute to the continuous improvement of total quality by performing quality inspections and auditing processes and systems. Manage documents required for all operations. Train team members on activities required for the monitoring and measuring of product performance. Manage conformance activities under the direction of Leadership and/or Quality Engineer.  Actively participate in problem solving.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Personal Traits:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED).
  • 1 year manufacturing experience.
  • Basic understanding and ability to understand prints/drawings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical activities to non-technical personnel.
  • Experience with group communication and problem solving methods.
  • Plastics and automotive experience.

Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provide assistance to manufacturing personnel.
  • Train floor personnel on proper use of inspection, measurement, & test equipment.
  • Generate Quality documentation as required, i.e. Quality Alerts, Sort, and/or Rework instructions.
  • Support customer and/or Pliant production by initiating and/or supporting actions required to resolve quality concerns (containing defective/suspect products and/or inspection/replacement of stock internally or at the customer location through Corrective or Preventive Actions).
  • Provide replacement/loaner tools to ensure the Quality management continues uninterrupted.
  • Assist in trouble shooting and resolving check fixture and gage problems. Perform preventive maintenance on assigned gages.
  • Control, calibrate, and maintain inspection of measuring/test equipment. Maintain the electronic gauge library, schedule instruments for calibration at appropriate intervals, and perform calibrations internally or outsource as appropriate.
  • Maintain numerical color control software files and master spectrographs. Assess incoming color concentrates, pre-colored resins and production parts to assure consistent color control to approved masters.
  • Set-up, organize, and maintain moisture analyzer memory programs. Coordinate with vendor to obtain and validate moisture analysis test parameters.
  • Interpret control plans/inspection instructions/GD&T; assist floor personnel and make valid decisions concerning quality of product and statistical control of processes.
  • Assist in writing and maintaining quality documents, such as work procedures, job instructions, control plans and inspection instructions.
  • Support active part/program requirements such as annual validation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized quality lab and work space.
  • Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as assigned by the supervisor.
  • If full time hours are required, the supplemental hours will be spent supporting manufacturing needs.

Mechanicals: (equipment operation or physical dexterity required for the position) – Keyboard, calculator, telephone, fax, copier, measuring tools, gages, and automobile.

Work Environment: Industrial office environment, light – moderate noise, and factory floor exposure.

Additional Information: Infrequent travel may be required (coordinate a sort or rework operation at a customer or supplier facility, pick-up or drop off a gage at a supplier, etc.).  Professional appearance and communication is essential in all representation of Pliant Plastics.
